Northbay Recruiter is partnering with a large distributer in search of a Technical Accounting Manager. This position will serve as right hand to the Controller and be instrumental in driving internal controls, SOPs, and audit readiness. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting via a combination of education, public audit & practical experience, coupled with a passion for maintaining financial accuracy while working in a cross- functional and collaborative role within a fast paced environment. 
This position will:
  • Work closely with the accounting team to meet weekly, monthly and annual deadlines to keep things moving and on track. 
  • Oversee general ledger activity, and keep accounts accurate, documented and properly supported.
  • Oversee areas of complexity: intercompany transactions/reporting, fixed assets, capitalization, lease accounting, and any new accounting guidance across multiple locations/entities.
  • Help ensure accounting practices are consistent with GAAP and company policies.
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and identify areas where processes can be tightened up or made more efficient.
  • Lead the accounting team's efforts related to annual audits, tax filings, and other compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to accounting staff and help troubleshoot accounting issues as they come up.
  • Work closely with the Controller on accounting policies, procedures, reporting, and other finance projects.
  • Work with Operations Teams and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues and find ways to stop them from happening.
  • Always be on the lookout for ways to improve processes, systems, and reporting.

What you'll bring: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting coupled with minimum 3-4 years public audit experience, CPA required.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience with some supervisory or management responsibility preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and technical skills required.
  • Ability to identify accounting issues, research solutions, and make sound recommendations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities.
