Finance at TRACTIAN
The Finance team at TRACTIAN is responsible for managing the company's financial health and ensuring sustainable growth. Within Finance, the Cash Operations function owns everything that happens between a signed contract and cash in the bank: billing, invoicing, collections, cash application, credit, and the controls and reporting around them. The work is running and rebuilding the machine that converts revenue into cash, and the output is measured in DSO, aging, and bad debt rather than in models.
What you'll do
As a Senior Finance Analyst - AR at Tractian, you will own the order-to-cash engine end to end: billing accuracy, collections strategy, and the reporting layer that tells leadership where cash actually is. You will not be running a queue of invoices, you will be designing the process, instrumenting it, automating what can be automated, and personally working the accounts that matter most. You will work across Finance, Sales, CS, and Operations, and your work will directly move DSO, bad debt, and free cash flow.
Responsibilities
- Own the order-to-cash architecture: Map and rebuild the flow from closed-won through invoice, payment, and cash application across NetSuite, HubSpot/CPQ, and Upflow β eliminating manual handoffs and rekeying as volume doubles.
- Billing integrity for a hardware + software model: Ensure invoices correctly reflect contracted sensor quantities, unit pricing, billing frequency, payment terms, and contract term length
- Build a segmented collections strategy: Design dunning cadences, escalation paths, and account ownership by customer tier β automated, low-touch treatment for the long tail; named, relationship-led treatment for strategic accounts..
- Credit policy and risk: Establish credit review at the point of sale, set exposure limits, flag at-risk accounts before renewal, and own the bad debt reserve methodology with Accounting.
- Dispute and deduction resolution: Partner with Sales, CS, and Operations to root-cause billing disputes and shorten resolution cycles β then remove the upstream cause.
- Automation and tooling: Own the AR tech stack roadmap; scope, implement, and measure automation (auto-invoicing, payment portals, auto-application, workflow-driven escalations) so headcount does not scale linearly with revenue.
- Reporting and analysis: Build the AR dashboards and management reporting used by the CFO and exec team; support month-end close, audit requests, and revenue-adjacent reporting.
- Process documentation and enablement: Write the playbooks, train Sales and CS on terms and billing hygiene, and make the process durable beyond any one person.
- Compliance: Maintain controls, sales tax and nexus considerations across states, and documentation standards appropriate for a company preparing for its next stage of scale.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years in accounts receivable, billing, collections, or order-to-cash finance, including hands-on ownership of the function through a scaling period of roughly $80M to $200M+ ARR.
- Built, not inherited: Demonstrated record of designing and implementing AR process and systems improvements β not just operating an existing process. Bring specific before/after numbers on DSO, aging, bad debt, or invoice throughput per FTE.
- Systems: Deep NetSuite experience required. Familiarity with a CRM/CPQ layer (HubSpot preferred) and an AR automation platform
- Hardware + software billing (strong plus): Experience where physical goods and recurring software are sold together
- Communication: Able to hold a collections conversation with a customer's AP lead and walk the CFO through the aging and what's moving it in the same afternoon. Comfortable pushing back on Sales on terms.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Hybrid flexibility: Based in the Atlanta area with the ability to work onsite a few times a week.
- Ownership mentality: Thrives without a playbook, in a fast-moving environment
