Project Finance Coordinator

Power your future with Qualus in our Accounting department as a Project Finance Coordinator. The Project Finance Coordinator is responsible for managing the expenses, billings, and budgets for projects assigned by the Project Finance Supervisor. They will maintain cost records and expenses related to the project(s) as well as month end project accounting close functions. This individual will investigate any billing issues and provide forecasting to ensure the organization completes the project within the expected budget. They will collaborate with project managers on financial aspects until competition. To be a successful Project Finance Coordinator, you must have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including US GAAP.
Responsibilities
- Oversee how projects earn revenue in the accounting system and provide monthly project earnings analysis
- Analyzes project cost reports and meets frequently with the Director of Finance and Project Managers to review status of projects for invoicing, profitability, earnings, costs, and cash flow
- Prepare and execute budgets for each project assigned
- Reconcile invoices to clients, vendors, or contractors
- Sets up and maintains projects in the accounting system according to contract terms
- Maintain an organized accounting system with several accounts while staying compliant with financial regulations, policies, and procedures
- Review contracts including amendments and agreements
- Serve as a liaison between Project Managers, Project Accountants, Leadership and the accounting team to ensure accuracy
- Monitor system for payments, purchase orders, invoices, and statements and follows up where necessary
- Assist with annual business plan
- Works independently to research and resolve financial issues
- Provide recommendations or commentary as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-2 years in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum of 1-2 years in accounting, preferably in a project-based environment
- Basic accounting principles, US GAAP
- Proficiency in Excel
- Strong problem solving, analytical and critical thinking
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines
