Position Summary:
As a member of the Payroll and Human Resources team, the Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in supporting all areas within the Payroll department. The ideal candidate must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, maintain a high level of confidentiality, and work as part of a team, as well as individually, with minimal supervision.
What you’ll be doing:
- Perform daily Payroll department operations, including preparation of multiple bi-weekly payrolls, new hire time and attendance training, employee self-service login reset, verifications of employment, and off-cycle payments
- Interface with Human Resources, Finance, and other teams as required
- Monitor and ensure FLSA compliance for multi-state operations
- Reconcile timecards, including contacting team members and supervisors to obtain timesheet approvals
- Data entry/imports for payroll adjustments; maintain accurate payroll records for audit/compliance; report creation and distribution to business partners
- Resolve tax issues, working with ADP tax and internal resources; maintain records and documentation regarding state issues
- Year End processing, including W2 review, approval and distribution, and preparation for the new year
- Document payroll processes
- Provide support to team members and management regarding all payroll inquiries in a timely manner
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
What we’re looking for:
- Associates degree in a related field and 4 years of payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with integrated Payroll/HR system, preferably ADP Workforce Now
- Union, implementation, and multi-state tax experience preferred (including CA, WA, IL, NY/ NYC)
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups) and knowledge of other standard software including Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
- Flexibility and ability to multi-task
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Customer-service oriented
- Highly detail-oriented and curious
- Bilingual: English/Spanish is a plus
