Your future duties and responsibilities:
How you'll make an impact
As a Senior Project Manager – Convenience & Retail Store Development, you will lead projects through the full project lifecycle—from initiation and planning through execution, implementation, and successful project closure.
This role supports a leading convenience and retail client, managing initiatives related to new store openings, remodels, relocations, and capital improvement projects. You will oversee project financials, including capital expenditures (CapEx), while ensuring alignment between business objectives, operational processes, technology solutions, and project delivery.
You will develop and manage integrated project plans, oversee budgets and forecasts, mitigate risks, and ensure successful execution across multiple workstreams. Success in this role requires exceptional communication, financial management, and stakeholder engagement while leading cross-functional teams consisting of client stakeholders, CGI professionals, consultants, contractors, vendors, and third-party partners.
Project Leadership & Delivery
* Lead the full project lifecycle from project initiation through implementation and successful project closure.
* Manage projects supporting new convenience store and retail location openings, remodels, relocations, and related operational initiatives.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including scope, deliverables, milestones, schedules, dependencies, and resource requirements.
* Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
* Coordinate multiple concurrent initiatives while balancing competing priorities and business objectives.
Resource & Delivery Management
* Partner with global resource managers to secure the appropriate project resources and subject matter experts.
* Lead cross-functional, geographically dispersed, and matrixed project teams.
* Monitor project progress and proactively address issues impacting schedule, budget, quality, or delivery.
* Ensure all project deliverables meet client expectations and established quality standards.
Client & Stakeholder Management
* Build and maintain strong working relationships with client stakeholders across multiple organizational levels.
* Serve as a trusted advisor to project sponsors by providing strategic guidance, recommendations, and proactive communication.
* Facilitate project meetings, steering committee sessions, executive briefings, and stakeholder reviews.
* Manage client expectations while fostering collaborative partnerships that drive successful project outcomes.
* Coordinate effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and external partners.
Governance, Risk & Scope Management
* Identify, assess, and proactively manage project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints.
* Develop mitigation strategies and escalate issues appropriately.
* Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality through established governance and change control processes.
* Ensure all changes to scope, schedule, and budget are documented, approved, and communicated.
Financial Management
* Manage project financial performance, including:
* Budget development and tracking
* Forecasting
* Capital expenditure (CapEx) management
* Resource cost reconciliation
* Financial reporting
* Ensure project financial performance aligns with project delivery objectives and client expectations.
Project Monitoring & Reporting
* Maintain integrated project schedules and milestone tracking.
* Monitor project performance using key metrics and project controls.
* Prepare and present executive dashboards, project status reports, and stakeholder communications.
* Communicate project risks, issues, recommendations, and corrective actions to sponsors and leadership.
* Drive accountability for project deliverables and successful business outcomes.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
What you'll bring
5+ years of project management experience leading complex projects from initiation through implementation and successful delivery.
* Experience supporting convenience store, retail, grocery, fuel retail, restaurant, or other multi-site operations.
* Demonstrated experience managing new store openings, remodels, relocations, or large-scale capital improvement projects.
* Experience managing project financials, including capital expenditure (CapEx), budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
* Proven success managing cross-functional, geographically dispersed, and matrixed project teams.
* Experience working directly with executive stakeholders, business sponsors, and client leadership.
* Demonstrated success facilitating governance meetings, steering committees, and executive status reviews.
* Strong understanding of project management methodologies, project controls, risk management, financial management, and change management.

* Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting convenience stores, fuel retail, grocery, quick-service restaurants (QSR), or other large multi-site retail organizations.
* Experience coordinating projects involving store development, construction, facilities, technology deployments, merchandising, or operational readiness.
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
* Experience working in a consulting or professional services environment is highly desirable.
Education
*Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Information Systems, Engineering, Construction Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
*Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Other Information:
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $79,600.00 $176,300.00.
