is recruiting for Payroll Services Supervisor!

As DMVA’s new Payroll Services Supervisor, you will take on a central leadership role, working closely with the HR Business Partner and DAS management while overseeing all payroll functions for the agency. You will supervise a small team of two HR Technicians, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll actions, timesheets, and other cyclical tasks. The team, based at the Juneau Auke Bay Armory, will focus on agency-specific needs while maintaining compliance with state laws, collective bargaining agreements, and regulations affecting both covered and non-covered employees.
In this hands-on supervisory role, you will lead, coach, and develop your team while fostering a healthy, sustainable workplace culture that supports work-life balance. You will act as the agency’s primary payroll certifier, maintaining strong internal controls and data integrity, and handling complex payroll tasks while training staff to grow their capabilities. Additionally, you will collaborate with the HRBP and Department of Administration to provide policy guidance and technical expertise, particularly as the State’s subject matter expert on payroll processes related to State Active Duty, military leave, and military orders, ensuring consistency and compliance across departments.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
The Payroll Services Supervisor is part of a small Payroll team within DAS. You’ll be working in a friendly office environment located in Auke Bay at the Joint Use Facility. This location is convenient for those living in the Valley area and you will enjoy ample parking, scenic trails for outdoor breaks.
