The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Facilities Program is seeking a Construction Project Coordinator to join our team. This position plays a key role in the delivery of new construction projects and major repairs to existing sites across the state to support the Department’s various missions. This position works with the agency’s various programs and our contract management office to secure and deliver the designs, construction, and repairs necessary to support the Department’s requirements into the future.
The ideal candidate for this position will be someone who is able to apply critical thinking, balance schedules and costs across multiple projects across the state, while accounting for a vast array of varying site conditions. We are looking for someone who possesses sound judgement and has a working knowledge of the standard principles and practices related to Architecture, Engineering, and Construction. This important position will require the ability to communicate clearly, pay attention to details, and work as part of a larger team to deliver projects for the agency.
Duties
Responsibilities:
Manage construction projects, including assisting in the development of contracts, project scheduling, and coordination with design firms and construction contractors to deliver construction projects for the agency.
Manage project budgets and utilize effective cost control measures on projects.
Document project progress and contractor compliance.
Direct the work of consultants and assigned project support staff; monitor the work of contractors.
Coordinate with partners for project site access and schedules. Communicate with partners on project details, contract details, and deletions.
Coordinate selection of Architecture and/or Engineering firms and manage design contracts, inclusive of partner input.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, construction management, or closely allied field AND (5) five or more years of construction project management experience; OR equivalent education and/or experience.
Required Competencies:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of principles and practices of basic engineering concepts, construction standards, and practices.
Skills in verbal communication and leadership.

Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations, and public records retention and requests are followed.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:
Office work environment with limited field work at construction sites or potential project sites. Project sites are owned by the Department or subject to acquisition by the Department.
Ability to travel to the extent of the state with overnight stays. Travel frequencies and locations depend on project size and intricacy. Potential travel may occur once per week or once per month.
A current, valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience. Additionally, DNR requires state drivers to possess a license that is not suspended, revoked, or restricted (for example, Occupational/Restricted Driver Licenses or requiring ignition interlock devices). This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.

Experience in scheduling of design, contracting, and construction milestones.
Experience in developing and organizing public works construction projects.
Experience working with partners and the contracting team as a team player.
