How to be Successful in the Role: 
Success in this role will come from your strong foundation in government administration, business operations, and public sector financial management. Experience with contracting, procurement, grant management, budgeting, complex accounting, and navigating multiple funding sources and projects will be essential as you help guide the department’s financial and operational success.

You will also bring experience using financial and performance management systems to support strategic decision-making, accountability, and long-range planning. Just as important, you are someone who values relationships, collaboration, and building strong teams. In leading the administrative support team, you will help foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and shared accountability while supporting staff growth and organizational effectiveness.

Core Daily Responsibilities:  

  • Take a central role in the development, presentation, and implementation of the department’s budgets for operations, capital, maintenance, administration, and performance management systems. Serves as an integral member in the preparation of long and short-term financial plans for the department and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.
  • Perform operational reviews, financial analysis and solve operational problems. Develop sound allocation methodologies in alignment with generally accepted fiscal practices.
  • Provide effective leadership to assigned staff.
  • Analyze and develop policies, procedures and protocols for administrative efficiencies.
  • Support the development, measurement and execution of the mission, goals, and objectives of the department and County.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A related degree can be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible experience in financial monitoring and developing large complex budgets with multiple funds, accounting and financial planning and finance experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Three years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with capital budgets.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or Business Administration strongly preferred.
