Programmatic Need Being Met by This Request The Assistant Project Manager will assist the Program team in daily operation action items such as, but not limited to: award letters, modifications, assignments, and extensions that are taken prior to incentives being released. This position will also assist in the development and execution of operational processes and NYSERDA's information center, Knowledgebase.

Has demonstrated a basic understanding of fundamental analytical principles. Knowledgeable in at least one technical or programmatic area in which the Authority is currently involved. Has awareness of relevant energy related aspects of research, environmental science and economics. Basic skills include an ability to interpret and analyze. Ability to produce quality communications, and demonstrate an aptitude to learn.
Creativity in Project & Program Development
Implements task and project ideas suggested by others. Assists other project managers to develop and manage projects, or manages own projects under close supervision.
Organization Skills & Productivity
Is productive on assignments but dependent on others for direction. Has capability to manage technical and cost control aspects of multiple on-going projects with close supervision. Approaches tasks logically and makes effective use of time and resources in performing work. Ability to assist in project's inception and through to completion, showing an ability to figure out next steps.
Leadership / Interpersonal Relations / Judgement
Has good interpersonal relations with staff. Has friendly, helpful and positive attitude. Able to take direction criticism from superior and other senior staff.
Communication Skills & External Relations
Has demonstrated ability to produce written products which are logical, technically and grammatically correct, but may require editing due to lack of familiarity with energy Deployment issues/needs/problems and Authority programmatic needs. Verbal skills show organization, good use of English and technical competence, but may reflect lack of experience or confidence. Demonstrates ability to establish contacts outside the Authority with suggestions from other staff.

Primary Responsibilities, and Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

What skills are needed to be successful in this role?
  • Working knowledge of Oracle/PeopleSoft or similar platform with a high volume of data entry; similar to NYSERDA's own NEIS platform
  • Ability to understand and implement Program Rules outlined in their respective Program Manuals, developing and streamlining operational processes for a range of Programs
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Database knowledge and ability to adapt to new systems/software
  • Ability to pick up processes quickly
  • Strong Excel skills
Are there any specialized skills that must be present for the position to be successful?
Previous working knowledge of solar system and storage project development.
Education, Certifications, Degree Requirements
Associate or bachelor's degree in public administration, project management, or environmental services.

  • Execution of award letters, assignments, project modifications, and extension requests
  • Assist in the development and organization of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Other duties as assigned that contribute toward the goals and objectives of the NY-SUN program
